Critical Hits are the new big thing with Assasins round the corner, so some Visual Indication of when they occur is not only a nice touch, but may become neccessary.

I'm a big fan of shiny. I agree an indication would be helpful.

Why not? I love WB, it's the only skill useful vs evaders and blockers really that's decent in damage. a KD on a critical would be extra nice.

Well, knockdown every four seconds is so broken it would not only shatter the GW PvP universe, it would also shatter ours, resulting in a trans-temporal void (See Marvel 1602 for more information)

Reason being, knockdown is the only aliment in the game that is expensive to induce. (Most skills cause you to lose all adrenaline when you inflict it, or exhaustion is required) While knocked down, you cannot activate any skills but stances, and therefore knocking down a target is a handy way of disabling them for a set amount of time. Hammer warriors would be all but obselete! Not to mention the gang-raping oppertunities.

Lol I could see that gang raping opportunities you are talking (I just visualized it in my mind) about if WB did in fact do a KD. Lol poor monks they are already abused enough by bunny thumpers I suppose. haha

knockdown would be too broken, but some indication would be nice ... very nice.

Just seeing big numbers isn't enough either...

We need a nice 'BANG' sound effect or something when a critical lands...

The rackety 'clinking' of just the same sound over and over gets grating on the ears. Especially if you're a warrior

/signed...

My suggestion is to let the critical hit have a much more noticable look, like a double sized font with shining gold brick to it ^_^

Oh man, you're making me miss my GF monk! I loved getting almost near a level, then going to Poring island, and making it so I had only like 5 xp till next level, and I'd go to south prontera and break out a dead branch, then asura the monster that appeared and level up from it. Too much fun.

Sigh, RO had a lot of good things about, but it also got very stale. I didn't like doing WoE so much (I was even in a very large guild). Not a whole lot of strategy involved in it.

just for your information melee weapons actually does have a visual difference when scoring criticals, though I only noticed this after the preview event update...but I haven't been looking for it before, I think it was already there...anyways whenever you score a critical hit the yellow/orange "star splash" that occurs during normal hits will be accompanied by a set of double rings...I'm not at home right now so I don't remember if magical missiles from wands and staffs have a similar hit effect, but I imagine that they also have some sort of indication for when you score criticals.

upon studying a couple of screenshots it seems that bow hits have the same form of hit indicator so I guess they have the same effect for criticals.

in fact if I'm not mistaking you can see the visual effect of a critical hit in a late state(before fading out) in this screenshot(the necro hit)http://www.guildwars.com/gallery/gws...ots/gw055.html

with the assasins bread and butter coming from crit hits I sort of agree with the idea of some sort of eye catcher for one.

Honestly if it were to appear in bold red numbers instead of the same yellow numbers above my targets head that would be a easy to see visual indicator.

As for flash...I think that thats cool too.
Actually, if most spells/skills in the game could get a effects face life that would be nice. But I think the simplicity of it is to make sure the game runs smoothly on low end computers.

...maybe a small compromise could happen if players get special weapons, that 20% chance whatever turns into a better effect of the skill in use.
